ABOUT US
VINTAGE STRING is a live music performance group founded and managed by Vanessa Fitzgerald and Diane Hastings. We provide outstanding live string performances throughout New England and destinations worldwide and have hubs in Boston, Providence, and NYC. We are passionate performers and classically trained musicians at Vintage String Music; our founders and team members alike maintain active freelance careers ranging from local pubs and symphony halls to the national touring stage and recording studio. The VINTAGE STRING team is a close network of outstanding musicians who are passionate about making unforgettable musical moments in every performance and who are hand-selected to comprise each ensemble.
Our woman-owned company started as a passion project cover band in 2018. To meet demand for our unique performances, we have grown into an agency that produces over 130 events and year- and 500 events and counting since 2020! We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, organizational systems, and passion for outstanding results. Through our planning and performance process, we endeavor to build lasting relationships with our clients, our industry partners, and our fellow artistic colleagues. Our results and reviews speak for themselves, and we are honored to be the top choice of elite coordinators and venues throughout New England.
WEDDINGS & EVENTS
We offer ensembles for every budget- solo, duo, trio, and quartets, with a range of customization options. Our ensembles feature violin, viola, cello, guitar, and piano. Percussion can be added to any ensemble to bring an elegant ceremony into a lively cocktail hour party. Additionally, we are pleased to offer options for amplifying instruments and supporting ceremony sound with wireless handheld and lapel microphone choices. Not featured below in our ensemble videos are solo violin options and piano options. Please reach out for samples of these ensembles, which are also a beautiful choice for any event.
As trusted experts in curating and performing WEDDINGS and special events, we strive to ensure that every event is hand crafted and tailored to each vision. We work with our clients and industry partners to cultivate song choices through an intentional planning and consultation process. For ease of organization, we have a dedicated client portal available for all details. Our REPERTOIRE LIST ranges 5 centuries and contains over 600 songs. Have a song in mind that is not on our repertoire list? We provide custom arrangements with many of our packages, and specialize in out of the box, unique, and obscure selections. If you can dream it, we can do it.
OUR ENSEMBLES
Violin and Cello Duo
A classic combination of violin and cello gives the beauty of a melody line complimented with the grounding bassline tones of the cello. This ensemble is perfect for a wedding ceremony, a private party, or an intimate cocktail hour. We recommend amplifying this ensemble for large areas or outdoor spaces.
Violin and Guitar Duo
A duo of violin and guitar is a beautiful fit for a wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, background music for a party, or a fun featured performance at a gala or corporate event. This ensemble requires amplification.
String Trio
Comprised of a violin, viola, and cello, the string trio is a beautiful ensemble featuring three string voices interweaving melodies, harmonies, and bass lines. String trio is a strong choice for many events ranging from weddings to corporate functions. A trio does not always require amplification, depending on the space.
Violin, Guitar, Percussion Trio
This ensemble brings the fun, eclectic energy of the violin and guitar duo up a level with the addition of the seated “cajon” drum. The additional engagement of the drum is perfect for a high energy cocktail hour, featured performance at a gola or fundraiser, or backyard bash. This ensemble requires amplification.
String Quartet
The quintessential string quartet is where classic meets contemporary, bridging the gaps from Beethoven to Beatles to Beyoncé to Bridgerton. With 2 violins, viola, and cello, the quart is a truly perfect ensemble- a miniature symphony. The string quartet has the benefit of four Vintage Reserve playlists which cannot be performed by any other ensemble.
Original Vintage Ensemble
Before Vintage String Music became a thriving music company producing over 130 events per year, we were two gals playing cover songs “Bridgerton style” in our living room. This ‘OG Vintage’ ensemble of Diane Hastings, violin and Vanessa Fitzgerald, Viola has limited availability, but we are happy to explore opportunities to bring our medleys to new audiences.
